Read the following Strategic Plan Overview:

By definition, a strategic plan is designed to be used for 3 to 5 years or more. For your individual Strategic Plan project, you write a strategic plan using the following outline. You may choose a health care organization on which you would like to focus or develop a new health care business. Choose something you are passionate about and may implement in the future. It is recommended that if you choose to work with an existing organization, you add a new program or project to your plan. Suggestions for appropriate new projects include a new program or service for an existing organization, a new product line for an existing business, a new joint venture or acquisition, a new health care payer model for a state, or a new health care business.

Read the entire document. This is a multiweek assignment that has five components:

  • The organizational structure
  • Environmental analysis and setting strategic goals
  • The financial plan
  • Implementation
  • Evaluation and control

Select a health care organization on which you would like to focus.

Research your chosen organization’s governing structure.

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word report on your findings in which you answer the following questions:

  • What are the organization’s mission and vision? What are the organization’s key values?
  • What strategic planning model does your chosen organization currently use?
  • Which theoretical framework, such as systems theory or change theory, does your chosen organization currently use?
  • What is the role of your organization’s mission, vision, and values in relationship to its strategic plan?
  • What is the organizational structure of your chosen organization?
  • Who are the current key leaders in your chosen organization?
  • What change management model does your chosen organization use?
  • How much involvement does the governing board have in implementing strategic goals?
  • What are the organization’s major service delivery and support activities in its value chain? At a minimum, include the following:
    • Location
    • Target market
    • Programs and services
    • Clinical operations
    • Marketing
    • Billing
    • Follow-up
    • Organizational culture
    • Organizational structure
    • Strategic resources
  • How may the organization use its value chain to help implement its strategic plan?

Organize Parts I through III for your strategic plan as follows:

  • Part I: Organizational Structure
  • Part II: Environmental Analysis and Setting Strategic Goals
  • Part III: Financial Plan

Complete Parts IV and V of your strategic plan and add them to Parts I through III.

  • Part IV: Implementation
    • Similar to your Learning Team assignment last week, describe how you plan to implement your strategic plan. In 700 to 1,050 words, address the following:
  • The potential barriers you anticipate and how you plan on overcoming them
  • How you will communicate your plan to all the organization’s employees
  • Your market entry strategy and the procedure you plan on using to implement your strategic plan
  • Part V: Evaluation and Control
    • In 700 to 1,050 words, answer the following questions:
  • What measurement guidelines should be used to verify strategy effectiveness?
  • If your strategy does not go according to plan, at what point would you consider altering the strategic plan you have suggested?
  • What tolerance range should be in place that would call for corrective action if exceeded?
  • What corrective action would you need to make if the organization’s performance fell outside the tolerance range?
    • Submit the assignment as a complete plan, including Parts I through V.
    • Cite at least five sources to support your information.
    • Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Present a completed strategic plan to the board of directors or funding source of your organization for approval.

  • Outline your strategic plan in a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with extensive speaker notes and references.
  • Describe why the organization needs a plan and walk the audience through every step in the strategic management process. Include the following:
    • How the plan fits with the company’s current mission, vision, and values
    • Environmental scanning for competitive advantages
    • Setting strategic goals
    • Internal dynamic and resource considerations for strategy implementation, including key budget information
    • Measurement guidelines
    • What feedback considerations the organization should put into place to ensure the success of the company
  • Keep your audience in mind and make your strategic plan convincing.

Please read all of the information about the assignments below:

FORMAT FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS

The assignments are to be done in Microsoft Word with Times New Roman 12- point font. Each assignment should use the modified APA 6th edition format. The assignment templates are set up in this modified format. The reference page should be in the APA format for every reference. The word requirement for the assignments are specifically stated in the guidelines of the assignment. The word count is from the first word of the introductory paragraph to the last word of the conclusion paragraph. FYI.

REFERENCE REQUIREMENTS

1- There should be a cited reference for each section of a paper as there are conclusion statements in each section (to meet the grading criteria) so the conclusion should be supported by a reference as the assignments are evidence-based research, clinical papers.

2- Word Count- The word count is done from the first word of the introductory paragraph to the last word of the conclusion. The word count must be within the minimum and maximum word limit stated in the assignment instructions. A 10% – point reduction will be made in the total points for the assignment.

Week 1 and 5 assignments should have SIX studies. Week 5 assignment is a compilation of sections from the week 1, 2 & 3 assignments.

Weeks 2 and 3 need to have at least THREE studies in the form of research studies. Please make sure that you look at the instructions for the assignment as well as the grading rubric. I have also provided templates for ALL assignments. It is in your best interest to use these as it will guide you so that you do not make common formatting errors.

APA FORMAT FOR ASSIGNMENT

Please utilize the resources in the STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER if you have difficulty with APA 6th Edition format, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation or tense structure.

SUBMISSION OF ASSIGNMENTS

Always submit the assignment in the drop box for that assignment. I cannot accept any assignment as an attachment to an email sent to my college email. Attaching it to a posting to the Questions to Instructor Forum or the Individual Forum is also not accepted.

I cannot grade any assignment unless it is placed into the drop box by the student per university policy.

Turn-It-In / Lopes Write

This is to be used for the assignments for these three weeks (2, 3 & 5) and it is NOT required for Week 1. All assignments will be placed through Turn It In first and then submitted in the drop box on the course shell. No assignments will be accepted as attachments to emails as this is not the university policy.

Grading Rubric-

The rubric for each assignment is found in the upper right- hand corner of the assignment page under the Forum Tab. Compare the requirements of the rubric with your paper prior to submission into the drop box so you will receive full credit for all graded criteria of the paper.

Late Assignment-

Any assignment that is late will have 10% deducted each day it is late. This is a 5- week class. It is imperative that you ask for help if you are having difficulty with an assignment.

You need to contact me as soon as possible if an assignment will be late prior to the submission deadline.
